Awards, Scholarships and Bursaries
CFUW North Toronto has offered scholarships to female students since 1980. Funds for
these scholarships come from the donations and fundraising efforts by CFUW North
Toronto members, from In Memoriam gifts and from the monthly meeting book sale profits.
A graduating female student from each of the five North Toronto high schools receives a
$750.00 scholarship; an additional rotating high school scholarship of $500 was introduced
last year in memory of recently deceased members.
CFUW North Toronto has established endowed awards or bursaries at the Toronto
universities. With our contributions matched by the Provincial Government, the
endowments are as follows:
U of T Woodsworth College
Eleanor Macdonald Award (Woodsworth College)
York University
Ryerson University
CFUW NT 30th Anniversary Award
York University (for an Aboriginal Woman)
Tax receipts will be issued for donations of $20 or more to the Scholarship Fund. As a
charity, we receive gifts of stocks or bonds.
